Supplier Feature: Canadian Down & Feather
I'm so excited to share one of my absolute favourite bedding suppliers. If you're a longtime follower on Instagram, you've probably heard me rave about Canadian Down and Feather Company. Their products have become THE final touch when creating those dreamy, swoon-worthy bedrooms clients desire.
Why I'm Obsessed
You know how passionate I am about creating spaces that don't just look beautiful but feel incredible too. After using Canadian Down and Feather products in my own home and for countless client projects, I can honestly say they've changed how I approach bedroom design. Not to mention they have facility downtown Toronto, so it checks the “Canadian connection” box as well. Crawling into bed everynight is truly a ritual I love because of how incredible my duvet insert is.
Let Me Break It Down For You
After years of testing various bedding options (the things I do for research!), here's what you need to know about choosing the right fill:
Down is often considered the Cadillac of comforter materials. It's my personal favourite for that luxurious, weightless warmth. What makes down so special is that just a tiny amount provides incredible warmth – that's why quality down duvets feel so light on your body. Nothing beats crawling under a premium down duvet after a long design day.
Here's the designer secret: The higher the loft of down, the more expensive it becomes, but it's an investment piece for your bedroom. One ounce of down provides more warmth than one ounce of any synthetic fill – it's nature's perfect insulator! When you press down on it, it compresses like cotton candy. Sometimes we even double up these duvets to give the bed even more plush factor ;)
Feather gives more structure and weight. I recommended their feather-blend pillows for a family who wanted something more substantial and supportive that would last through years of family movie nights and weekend lounging.
Microfiber alternatives feel more like marshmallow compared to down's cotton candy texture. They're denser and trap less air, giving you more of a plush feel. For my clients with allergies or budget considerations, these have been absolute lifesavers.
The practical side of me loves that microfiber is much easier to care for – you can wash it at home (a huge plus for busy households). While down requires dry cleaning or professional washing because it's sensitive to moisture, microfiber stands up to regular washing.
Finding Your Perfect Match
You know I'm all about personalization, and bedding is no different. Here's my insider guide:
For my hot sleepers (raising my hand here), I swear by their Summer Weight duvets. These are perfect if you sleep in warm temperatures or naturally run hot.
If you're in the "not too hot, not too cold" camp, the Regular Weight is your solution! These are ideal for moderate room temperatures and body temperatures.
For those of you who are always a bit chilly, their All Season Weight options have been my go-to recommendation. They're perfect for chilly sleepers in cool temperatures.

My Top Picks
If you're wondering where to start, the regular weight 800 Loft Hutterite White Down Duvet has been my most-recommended product (I have one on my own bed!). Their medium-firm down and feather pillows are also incredible – I personally love the mix of a gel fiber sleeping pillow and a feather pillow for your side.
Next time you're thinking about refreshing your bedroom, think Canadian Down and Feather products. Trust me, your sleep self will thank you.
